Fox Business Highlights Zero Energy Home

Earth Day Broadcasts Demonstrate New Technologies

New York The Fox Business Channel was live throughout its daytime programming on Earth Day from a zero energy home in Dexter, Michigan. The house, which serves as both home and office to builder Bob Burnside of Fireside Homes, is also a LEED-H Platinum certified home, the highest level of certification offered by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

The live segments, were reported by veteran Fox Business Correspondent Jeff Flock. The Burnside home, while traditional in appearance, contains a host of energy efficient features, including:

Solar Panels
Ground Source Heat Exchange Heating and Air Conditioning
Net Metering
Structually Insulated Panels (SIPS)
Insulated Concrete Form foundation (ICF)

Fox chose the Burnside house because, from a design perspective, it looks like a traditional American home, and will serve to show that the latest energy efficient technologies can be integrated into a typical home, and does not need to look like an architectural experiment.
